Systems Specialist (Software Design & Development)

General Description:

Provides development and coding work in selected areas of AAS IT systems infrastructure and provides support for those assigned areas to members of the AAS Community. Responsible for working collaboratively with a Systems & Projects Development Lead or higher in completing assigned tasks associated with system development and deployment. Acts as first line of support for identified systems and their associated users. In addition, this position is a member of the IT team and may be called upon to support other work as assigned. This job requires flexibility and work is required during the AAS school holidays, evening hours, and on weekends.

Essential Duties:

• IT Development:
  • Development & maintenance of AAS IT apps & services (both Intranet & Internet)
  • MS development & end-users environment, Sharepoint as a primary platform
  • Integration of various corporate apps and services
• IT Support
  • End-user support for identified systems

Requirements & Qualifications:

• Higher Education (Bachelor’s degree or higher)
• Minimum 3 years of recent work experience in software development
• Must be eligible to receive a security clearance certification (provided by AAS)
• Must be eligible to receive a security clearance certification from the USA Embassy
• English language - reading level, enough for documentation; speaking level- basic conversation proficiency

Preferred Qualifications:

• Successful experience in designing & testing highly interactive web based apps and solutions with friendly UI.
• Professional/Specialist certifications in required technologies

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• ASP.NET, JScript, VB, VBA, C#
• Database design & management, SQL
• Skills & experience in using API of 3rd party software vendors (thick client & web based)
• Data structures & software design patterns
• Ability to prepare documentation, instructions notes
• Testing & debugging skills
• Ability to work in a team and in an international environment
• Ability to work collegially even under pressure and; overtime
• Customer service oriented / excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to details

Advantage knowledge & skills:

• Advanced knowledge of MS SQL (including Integration Services)
• Web development frameworks (ASP.NET MVC, Bootstrap etc)
• Websites for mobile devices, iOS Apps development
• PHP, MySQL
• MS SQL Integration & Analysis services
• Data warehousing design and implementation
